Following our success at the 2018 Kingston Business Excellence Awards, we're SUPER chuffed to announce that we've been shortlisted for the 2019 awards, in the 'Best New Business' category.
This news came like a giant hug. It's been quite a year for SketchBetter. We've danced on the BBC, we've cat-walked at the Rose Theatre, we've moved all our belongings into storage and we gained Limited company status. I was signed off work for 3 months with ill health. We've bid farewell to the classroom that's been our temporary home for two years (fondly known as the incubator to me and the studio to our children). We've also said farewell to our wonderful champion and Alexandra School's Head Teacher Mrs Rachel Carr - who is off for retirement. We've spent 12 months with our first placement student, we ran an exhibition for 92 children and we launched our very Oscars Awards ("The Artstars") to celebrate development and achievements in wellbeing and creativity.
So, we're very grateful to have made the shortlist. It feels like an award in itself. All will be revealed at the awards night on Ravens Ait Island in October, this year hosted by TV presenter Michael Underwood. For now though, I'd like to thank all the lovely people at Kingston Business Excellence Awards for recognising the work we're doing locally to educate young people, and my best wishes and good luck to all the finalists.
Here's a few photos from last year, when we picked up the award for Entrepreneur of the Year 2019.
