We are launching our very first SketchBetter Art Scholarship this September and I am so excited to announce our first awardee is eight year old, Charline Lepant.
Charline is an extraordinary young lady and has had a huge impact on the growth and success of SketchBetter. First attending one of our after-school art clubs held at Cass Art in Kingston, Charline returned to her school and told her Head Teacher all about it. "I had to take my shoes off and draw them!" Charline and a friend Jasmine asked the school if they could have Art lessons at school. I was called in that week and have been working with Alexandra School for over 18 months.
Charline is also a young carer, looking after her older brother Martin. She absolutely adores Art and I think boasts over five full sketchbooks already. She has stood out at SketchBetter as someone who not only loves Art but has an innate interest in all things creative.
The 12 month SketchBetter scholarship gives Charline unlimited access to SketchBetter's art classes and our brand new art studio at Alexandra School. She will have the opportunity to gain 1-1 support from myself Kate Andrews and our other Art Teachers. We will be documenting Charline's growth and progress over the year and I am excited at what she can achieve with this opportunity.
