On Sunday we held our first yoga class at the Art Space above Cass Art in Kingston. Led by the wonderful Muriel Mueller of MuMu Yoga, the class ran as part of our current Story Spheres Exhibition. The sun was beaming into the gallery and the room was full of people.
Yoga in the Gallery
We are running second yoga class at the exhibition on Sunday 25 October 2015, from 10-10.45am. It’s a drop-in class, first come, first served and £8 each.
We’ve also got an exciting workshop coming up next week, on ArtYoga, Led by artist Kate Andrews (Founder, SketchBetter) and yoga teacher Muriel Mueller (Founder, MuMu Yoga). During this workshop there’ll be a guided yoga class from which you’ll then be taking learnings and insights to paper and expressing your energy, emotions and physical movements through visual art. You will also explore the seven chakras (nerve centres in the human body), their colours and how they relate to your happiness and wellbeing.
“The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. To visualize a chakra in the body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy, called Prana, is vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.” – Chopra Centre
